The Challenge

As a rapidly growing business making investments across the UK, BGF needed to extend its regional presence and securely connect seven offices with access to corporate IT resources and telephony.

To accelerate communications, improve internal and external collaboration and introduce flexibility, BGF also needed a video conferencing and desktop-sharing solution that could be deployed quickly and seamlessly into their environment with minimal training.

Moreover, they needed to ensure that their room-based video conferencing systems (which are business critical to their operational processes) worked effectively in these new offices. GCI’s expert team worked with BGF to design the solution.

The Solution

As part of their communication solution, GCI implemented a fully-managed wide area MPLS network with hosted firewalls for added security.

In conjunction with installing and supporting an on-premise Lync service, GCI reworked BGF’s whole transit path to ensure reliable and clear video conferencing services across all sites. Hub offices have been supplied with GCI hosted VoIP handsets that are fully managed and monitored by GCI’s NOC, and have been configured to automatically divert to BGF mobiles in the event of an outage to reduce downtime and maintain call connectivity.

Now equipped to instantly communicate with partners, they are collaborating more effectively internally and externally using the HD video conferencing Lync provides. As well as a sharp and clear display, this simplified Unified Communication system means employees are spending less time travelling across sites, and more time desktop-sharing to collaborate effectively. Lync will drive immediate savings in hardware, software and support costs as it is compatible with a variety of devices.
