The early stages of a transformational journey

Multi-award winning GCI, one of the UK’s leading Managed ICT Service Providers, today announces the appointment of Mike Constantine as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Mike joins GCI’s Senior Leadership Team alongside recently appointed CEO Adrian Thirkill.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO Adrian Thirkill stated, “GCI has been something of a sleeping giant in recent years. We are now at the early stages of a transformational journey and the appointment of senior technical leadership of Mike’s calibre is another piece of the jigsaw that has now dropped nicely into place. Mike and I worked together at Easynet for the best part of seven years, before that Mike was with Reliance Globalcom and Cisco. He follows the recent appointment of Phil Hambly as Marketing Director. Steadily, piece-by-piece, we are building our new senior leadership team (SLT) as we prime for growth.”

Thirkill continued, “Mike brings a sure-footed instinct and palpable passion for technology development. His many years in the industry have revolved around solutions consultancy and solutions shaping and that will be invaluable as GCI re-focuses its portfolio to align with the current and future business challenges faced by our customer base.”

Mike Constantine added, “I am delighted to be joining GCI at such an exciting stage of its journey. It is an organisation that I have huge professional regard for and the timing is perfect. The technology world is advancing in leaps and bounds and in the last few weeks alone news reports have warned that the corporate world is struggling to recruit the quality of in-house technical skills needed to leverage technology benefits. Plugging those gaps, and helping customers see through the technology fog as they shape their business improvement strategies is exactly where GCI fits.”

Mike Constantine concluded, “As another indicator of technology’s brisk pace, recent reports also cite the rapidly maturing mobility and UC market. Not so very long ago Skype was a seemingly consumer centric / consumer grade service… now, in the blink of an eye, it’s passed the 2 million seat milestone. And around the corner, just around the corner, are other transformational technologies that are gaining traction – software enabled networks, huge advances in contact centre and PCI solutions, hybrid connectivity through to hybrid Cloud, M2M and more. Our goal at GCI is to pick the right solutions, demystify and translate those solutions into plain English business benefits, make the commercial arrangements simple (and compelling) and – with the help of our excellent staff – support
those solutions end-to-end.

Adrian Thirkill closed, “To use football manager parlance, winning is about surrounding yourself with great players. Mike is one of those and he will support our steady push through the premiership.”
