New virtual IT infrastructure for Antonov Airlines
11 December 2017
Antonov Airlines is the UK division of Ukrainian aviation giant Antonov Company, a 12,500 person-strong enterprise who operate worldwide. When the UK office separated from their previous IT partner, they turned to Blue Chip for a new, cost-effective IT server infrastructure that could scale with their sustained growth.
GCI recommended a virtual infrastructure that would provide a flexible, scalable environment. A VMWare hypervisor was installed on a physical HP server stored on-site at Antonov’s UK office. Blue Chip also set up the Microsoft Office 365 licensing with preferential pricing and fully manage the subscriptions under a 99.9% Uptime SLA, complete with automatic access to all new updates and patches from Microsoft and complete flexibility to scale their plans up and down.
The virtual environment also included a robust FortiGate firewall and remote backup via GCI'S own Backup and Disaster Recovery offering – SecureVault, powered by EVault. SecureVault provides secure and affordable backup to GCI'S Private Cloud Platform, which is ISO 9001 and IS0 27001 accredited and built with the latest technologies from industry leaders including Microsoft, EMC and Cisco.
Antonov Airlines also decided to leverage GCI'S Flexible Support Plus Managed Services package, with 24/7 support, monitoring and reporting plus security monitoring, only billed for the hours used; ideal for a business which needs flexibility as they continue to expand but still require a guaranteed 24/7 service level.
Nathan Wright, IT Manager at Antonov Airlines, said: “Separating from our previous partner could have proven very difficult from an IT perspective, but GCI provided a solution which can adapt quickly depending on our requirements. It is also useful that our Managed Service is only billed in line with the time consumed, as it offers us cost-effective access to all the technology and expertise provided by GCI.”
