About the role

The Credit Control Manager is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the request of a credit policy, regular credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of elevating Cash Collections and minimising bad debt losses.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a team, including training, motivating and setting monthly/quarterly targets
  • Ownership of Credit Control Team targets
  • Assisting Credit Controllers to ensure they are actively performing their cash collections role
  • Providing ongoing training to the Credit Control Team
  • Implementing new processes to improve debtor days
  • Ensuring the Credit Control Team effectively builds relationship with internal and external customers
  • Monitoring existing procedures with a view to improving processes and cash flow into the business
  • Dealing with a broad range of credit control issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Managing and monitoring credit risk
  • Producing analysis and performance reports to the Head of Finance
  • Overseeing the debt recovery or litigation processes
  • Escalating unresolved disputes in order to ensure a quick turnaround to actively chase aged debt
  • Recognising potential risks by identifying bad debt and escalating significant risk
  • Managing and overseeing Top Customer Accounts
  • Arranging Monthly Disputed Debtors Review with Sales Director
  • Arranging Monthly Disputed Legal Debtors Review with the in-house Legal department
  • Maintaining and administrating the Credit Control Software tool (Credit Hound)

Key skills:

  • Excellent communicator
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to investigate and resolve customer queries
  • Strong credit risk awareness
  • Sales, Purchase, Nominal and Credit Control Ledger experience
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a busy office environment and always be on-hand to support the team
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Results driven and leads by example (Essential)

Desired qualifications:

3+ years of credit and supervisor/management experience

Working conditions:

A fast-paced office environment. Expected to travel to business locations.
